Hiking with the Family

Aside from setting rules and guidelines for your children to have structure and discipline, another aspect of raising well adjusted, happy children is quality time spent with family members. It is proven that children who grow up with a solid family background are more secure in themselves and take on the world better as adults.

Although there are many things that are considered to be quality time, there is one way you can combine two things into one. It is a good idea for the girls in the home to have a "girls only" day. This helps them learn and grow in their femininity. Just the same, the males in the household need male bonding time. Next, the entire family should spend some time together as a whole. This connects everyone and makes for a happier and more peaceful household.

One thing everyone wants for their family is good health. In order to do that, you should encourage your young children to be active. We all know that children have more energy than us, but there are ways we can interact with them physically because we need exercise just as much as they do. Rather than use the word exercise with your children, take them hiking. Get them interested in nature by making up scavenger hunts. This is a great way to interact with the children. It encourages them to use their imaginations, teaches them about nature, and gives them respect for the outdoors. Hiking can be a day excursion or you can go away for a vacation. Many campgrounds have hiking trails. This would introduce your children as well as yourself to knew places. Exploring new locations together can be very exciting. Hiking can be leisurely or fast paced. Whichever works best for your family.
