Why Is the U.S. Considered a Fat Country?

The problem of obesity has been a topic of concern for a long time now. The more aware doctors have become over the years, the more they preach to their patients and to the public about how unhealthy it is to be overweight and especially obese. Unfortunately, the United States has a very high rate of obesity in the country. Obesity is a term that is used for grossly overweight people. There are a few different reasons as to why people get overweight and here in the USA, the reasons can be rectified if people put in the effort.

One of the reasons why there are so many obese people is that they eat the wrong foods. Many people eat a very unbalanced diet, with too much starch, sugar, carbohydrates, and fat. With all the fast food restaurants, it is hard for people to always eat right, and many lose the interest in even trying. Many people get busy with life and do not take the time to cook a healthy meal; they simply run through a drive-thru and grab a quick and fattening dinner. Another reason is that there has been a decrease in exercising. Lots of children prefer to come home after school and either sit in front of the television or play video games. There simply isn't the kind of outdoor activity that there was years ago. Another reason for the increase in obesity is due to genetics. When a person is genetically predisposed to obesity, they may have to try much harder than normal to keep their weight healthy.

Obesity is a growing problem here in the US and other countries are starting to recognize it. There are ways of reversing this problem, but the public needs to be made aware.
