The importance of physical fitness in today's world is very evident because of the obesity crisis that we are seeing in the United States affecting both young and old. Our schools are encouraging our young people to play sports and get involved in physical fitness programs. Obesity puts extra work on the heart and can lead to an increase risk for disease.
According to the U.S. Surgeon General, there is more than 60% of the population that does not get enough exercise. It is recommended that you get at least 30 minutes of daily exercise.
Some of the benefits of daily exercise include greater flexibility in people. You are able to move your legs and arms better. Cardiovascular health is greatly improved by exercise. Your lung capacity is improved and exercise may improve breathing problems.
You will see a decrease in many health issues such as chronic diseases and high blood pressure. Not only will you enjoy being active but you will continue to be active during your golden years. As well, exercise will prolong your life with a better quality of life.
You will find with exercise an increase in metabolism and your body will be able to burn fat more efficiently. Not only will you feel better but you will look better, too. This will lead to more positive self-esteem in the way you look at yourself.
The Japanese people are taught early in life about physical fitness and how to take care of themselves. As a result, they are able to live a more healthy and productive life.
